Mount Edward  – A reimagined Cellar Door experience

A Taste of Mount Edward

Reimagine your next winery cellar door, experience a new fine wine culture in a small and relaxed setting.

Try  traditional classics to the avant-garde of New Zealand wine & enjoy regionally inspired tapas, matched or standalone.

You’re welcome to book a wine tasting, add some some smaller plates of food or just come for a glass or a snack.

Wine tastings are tailored to each person with different wine experiences to choose from;

A Cellar Door tasting allows you to taste across our  current release wines.

The Library tastings  include older vintages and special edition wines alongside current releases.

Our Wine and Food experiences match our Library tasting wines with an array of tapas or  lighter smaller plates. A total experience. Perfect over lunchtime.

All our wines from current release to limited edition cellar club wines are listed here.

Our Food is based on tapas style/smaller plate offerings.

We have a small kitchen serving lighter fare that work with or without a tasting. Portions are smaller by design, are specifically matched or can try a few things without committing to a full lunch.

We offer tasting options for those not trying wines and can cover allergies in our food menu if not all preferences due to our size.

Please ask when booking if unsure .

To note:  July 2026 we are operating an abbreviated snack menu only, with  Chef Janet off working on our new season menu, full menu resumes in August 2026

Our menu changes, is regionally inspired, is tapas/lighter smaller plates, is available at all times unless noted and is available with our without wine. We have a range of non alc options with wines by the glass available alongside our tastings.

All our wines are organic, naturally grown at our estate owned, regeneratively farmed vineyards, here in Central Otago.

They include premium Single Vineyards, older vintages, unique whites, sparkling Pet Nats, Gamay, Orange wine, and a number of New Zealand firsts such as Vermouth , alongside our region’s classic  –  Central Otago Pinot Noir .

Whether a current release cellar tasting or a more in depth library tasting, we will create a bespoke wine experience based around what you would like to try.

Book a tasting, come for something to eat, or settle in for both

Experience Central Otago like no other and join our crew.

The wines were exceptional, each with its own unique character and depth. A special mention to Bindy, who was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate, making the tasting experience even more enjoyable. “Absolutely amazing cellar door experience. We rode here on e-bikes from Better by Bike, the ride was stunning and this winery has been a great place to relax and try some wine post-ride.”

“Mount Edward Winery, a definite must visit experience! Their wines were diverse, often complex, and vast. Having significant experience in the realm of wine, we were incredibly impressed by Mount Edward’s range. The winery is incredibly picturesque, slightly quirky, and extraordinarily comfortable to relax, enjoy the afternoon and the amazing wine. The staff were amongst the most knowledgeable we met in the region, and shared and contrasted their varietals with immense detail. We will definitely be visiting again. Thank you”
